The Ultimate Guide to Keeping Your Skin Hydrated in the Winter

Let's prevent dry skin this Autumn/Winter.

So this week has been crazy cold and it genuinely feels like Winter is already here in New Zealand. I shouldn't be surprised - have you SEEN Lake Tekapo?

With the change in temperature comes the change in my skin. I always find it challenging to maintain hydration levels and decrease redness in the colder months so I have compiled my go-to tips to help you if you share my struggle!

💦 Drink Water!
Women should be consuming 2.2L of water a day. This seems crazy but it's totally needed. I always aim for a clear stream by the end of each day (TMI I know). Also this gives your liver the liquid it needs to flush out nasty toxins!

🛁 Lukewarm Water and DO NOT STAY IN FOR TOO LONG!
This one has my name written all over it in bold caps. I love a hot shower and I know that I shouldn't do it but we can't all be perfect right?! Seriously though, keep the temperature reasonable and don't stay in the shower or bath too long - this will result in more moisture loss which bites you in the butt an hour later.

🧴 Moisturise After Bathing/Showering
If you moisturise when your skin is damp it is more likely to absorb and provide lasting hydration. Before moisturising your face, use a gentle hyaluronic acid serum to increase your levels.

🥑 Eat Foods Rich in Healthy Fats and Omega-3
As a millenial y'all know how much I love an avo on toast... Well, it's really good for your skin as well as fatty fish and seeds. Try to consume foods like this to increase your oil production which will combat dry skin.

🥶 Use a Humidifier
If you're still reading this email, I can tell you're serious about preventing dry skin. Yay! The air is naturally drier during the colder months and you're most likely exposed to heat pumps or fires which further dry out your skin. Using a humidifier puts more moisturiser into the air and ultimately your body.

💚 Add a Face Mask into your Routine
This is the part where I remind you about my amazing product, the Revive Mask, it's the perfect addition to any routine that adds some intense moisture into your skin minimalistically. Simply put it on in the shower to save time!

These are my main tips to combat dry skin in the colder months. If you have any questions or want to know more, please get in touch because I LOVE talking about skin!
